Mesquite

Jake Pitts, passed away in his home surrounded by his loved ones, on May 7, 2019 in Mesquite, NV. He was born on May 28, 1931 in Birmingham, AL.

Jake, also known as "Pops", loved his family and cherished every moment spent with them. He loved many outdoor activities, but always grew a smile on his face while riding horses, swimming, fishing, hunting, roller skating, helping the kids with boxing, or just watching them run around. Everyone that knew him, knew how much being an Usher at church meant to him. He spent much of his time serving others, especially the act of donating blood. All the ladies knew how much Jitter-Bugging meant to him. Jake’s most cherished accomplishments were raising his children, watching David grow into a good man, and being a Roofer. He loved raising his grandsons, David and Michael, as his own kids. His other accomplishments included an honorable discharge from the National Guard, being in the Knights of Columbus, and participating in the Beard Contests.

He leaves behind his daughters; Darlene (Avie) Reece, Mary (Mike) LeJeune; son; John Pitts, grandson; David (Starr) Pitts, six grandchildren, his 18 great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren. Jake also is survived by one brother; Michael Pitts and two sisters; Angie Lawson and Patricia Cornelius. He was welcomed into Heaven’s gate by his Big Momma, Big Daddy, his brother; Anthony, his sister; MaryAnn, his grandson; Michael, and his great-grandson; Austin.
