Jackson H. Chamberlain, age 85, passed away at his home due to brain tumors, on Friday, August 10, 2012, in Mesquite, NV. Jack was born April 26, 1927 to Orson and Josie Hallett Chamberlain in Robertson, WY. On July 17, 1969, he married Ruth Burgener in Heber City, UT.
Jack's family moved to Fort Bridger, WY when he was about eight years old. At the tender age of fourteen, Jack left home to work on many various farms and ranches until he was forty-two years old. He was the epitome of a true cowboy in every way, and thoroughly enjoyed working on ranches. However, with the love of his life now changing him into a family man, he decided to give up riding the range on horseback for riding the highways in diesel trucks and snow blowers. Jack and Ruth had two precious daughters that Jack truly cherished, so the young couple moved to Rock Springs, WY and Jack began working for the Wyoming Highway Department on the Maintenance Crew. He soon moved into the foreman position and was an amazingly hard worker. He spent many hours working overtime so his wife and children would never go without, while making many sacrifices himself. Jack retired from the Highway Department in 1990 and moved to Heber City, UT into his wife's childhood home. Here, his amazing talent for remodeling came in very handy, as Jack and his wife rebuilt the old ranch house from the ground up. After many years of hard work, Jack and Ruth moved to Mesquite, NV to truly begin his retirement. He enjoyed watching the Mesquite wildlife outside his back window, reading westerns he had never had time for before, and tinkering with whatever needed tinkered. Jack was surrounded by his loving family in his last days, and was able to stay in his own home as his spirit left his mortal body to return home to his Father in Heaven.
Jack is survived by his wife, Ruth of Mesquite; two daughters, Sharon (Leon) Gardner of Las Vegas, NV, and Susan Chamberlain of Mesquite; two granddaughters, Danae (Thomas) Glieden of Herriman, UT, and Ardra McDow of Mesquite; and one great granddaughter, Athena Glieden of Herriman, UT; one brother, Eugene (Betty) Chamberlain of Indianapolis, IN, and one sister, Mary Louise Slagowski of Green River, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Bryce.
Graveside services were held on Thursday, August 16, 2012, in Mesquite, NV.
