Ivan Mac Jones, 99, passed away peacefully at home in Logandale, NV on July 20, 2014, aged 99. He was born in Enterprise, UT on Dec 13, 1914, to Fred and Katie Smith Jones. He spent his school years in Enterprise, serving as student body president in his Senior year. He worked for the National Park Service, was a brakeman on the Union Pacific railroad and taught school briefly before serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Northwest States Mission. After his mission he worked at the Columbia Iron Mine, where he met Lennie Page, who he married for time and eternity in the St George Temple on Nov 16, 1956. He was elected mayor of Enterprise and served for a short time before deciding to return to college in Cedar City, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Later he earned a Master's Degree from Northern Arizona University. He went on to teach in Pioche, Las Vegas and Moapa Valley, Nevada. He retired from teaching in 1982 and went on to serve thirteen years as a Temple worker in the Las Vegas Temple. He loved to read, preferring historical, religious and political subjects. He grew a beautiful garden. His life was dedicated to his family, particularly his son, Tracy, his religion and his God. He was a hard-working, gentle, loving man and will be greatly missed. He is survived by 4 children, Melanie and Tracy of Logandale, Colleen of Provo, Utah and Curtis (Holly) Jones of Clarkston, Utah; 4 grandchildren, Adam Jones, Elder Eric Jones, Elder Joseph Jones, Emily Jones and 3 great grandchildren Maddie, Dacie and Jeremy Jones. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Lennie, son Eric, his parents, and his brothers, Smith, Clair, LaVon, Doyle, Darian, Cline and sisters, Wanda and Brita. Funeral Services will be held at the Hinckley Chapel, 1505 W Hinckley, Logandale, NV, on Friday, July 25 at 11:00 with visitation from 9:00-10:30. A short graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 26, at the Parowan, Utah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or your favorite charity.
