Isabelita Visitacion Cainto Agbaglud, age 79, passed away in St. George, Utah on January 16, 2020. Isabelita was born in the Manila, Philippines to Guillermo Flores Agbaglud and Candida Pagalanan Cainto on July 2, 1940. She was the eldest of 8 children and took her responsibility as the eldest very seriously. She was practically the second mom to her siblings; Felix Rolando, May, Virginia, Bernardita, Sonia, Teodulo and Felisa. She was the bread winner for the family, as her father wasn’t in good health and very sickly the latter part of his life, and her mother; Candida, was a homemaker. She was a strict, meticulously clean person everywhere she lived. She was a teacher of 27 years at the San Antonio Elementary School in Kalayaan, Laguna, Philippines. After her long stint of teaching, she migrated to the United States of America to join her mother and siblings, in 1988 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She worked at the Pizza Hut, and different stores in the mall. In 1999, she relocated to Bunkerville, Nevada to join her youngest sister, Felisa, to help care for a newborn baby, Charles Len. She worked at the Virgin River Casino Chuck Wagon Restaurant, on the grave yard shift, to help financially support other family members in the Philippines. All her life she served others and loved her family. She did not like being a burden to anyone. She passed away thinking she was going back home to Bunkerville. She suffered all of her life with a bad heart, and died of heart failure.
Isabelita, who was fondly called “Ate Lita” (meaning, “Big Sister Lita”) by her siblings, had a very generous and beautiful heart. Although she didn’t marry and have children of her own; she helped raise, giving financial and emotional support to her nieces and nephews. Who are; from the eldest to the youngest, Rommel (Abigail) Mahayag, Robbie Mahayag and family, Rodney (Julia) Mahayag, (May and John Paras’ children), Eric Rolando Melendres, Marie Antoinette Melendres Agustin (Virginia and Numeriano’s children), Julie and “Little Harry” Nourijanian (Bernardita and Harry’s children ), Jamela and Aly Aboushaca (Sonia and Jimmy Mohamed’s children), Aristotle Agbaglud, Alexander Agbaglud, Agnes Bernadette Agbaglud, Guilson, and Monina (Teodulo and Anafel), Carmina Joy Erickson Hughes (Jason), Christopher Edward Erickson, Charles Len Erickson (Whisper), (Felisa and Gary’s children). She had 12 great nieces and nephews. Via Jeanene, Carmina’s eleven month old baby, made Isabelita smile every time they saw each other, during their visit last Christmas.
Her past students, of the 27 years of teaching, still remember and adore her. Every time they had a reunion at their school, they invited Isabelita to be their Honorary Guest of Honor. She was not able to attend these reunions because she lived in the United States. Isabelita is greatly respected and touched many lives in San Antonio Laguna, Phillipines.
Her family and friends will miss her being the rock and strength of the family unit. All who knew her will miss her greatly. There will be a visitation on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Bunkerville Chapel, 355 Virgin Avenue, Bunkerville, NV from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Burial will be at the Bunkerville cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2020.
