Mesquite, NV - Irene K. Mashburn, 89, passed away Wednesday, October 17 at Highland Manor. She was born April 4, 1929 in Erie, PA to Walter Kubeja and Lottie Popielasz Kubeja. She married Wallace K. Mashburn III on October 11, 1958 in Erie, PA.
She spent her early years in Erie attending Villa Maria Academy, graduating with honors in June1947. She has lived in Louisville, KY; Houston,TX; Albuquerque, NM; Riverton, UT and finally in Mesquite, NV. She was an accountant by profession graduating with a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Albuquerque in 1986. She was on the Dean’s List and a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma, National Honor Society. She helped her husband, Wallace, with their television and appliance repair business and her plant store for many years.
Irene was an avid crossword puzzle worker. Irene enjoyed fishing and camping. She loved to travel, seeing most of the states by automobile. She traveled internationally to many Western European countries and several Eastern European countries. One of her favorite countries to visit was Mexico traveling its entire length several times.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wallace, and her youngest daughter Leanne Mashburn. She is survived by her daughter Roxanne Mashburn of Draper, UT; a sister, Jeanne Kubeja of Lakewood, WA; a brother, Raymond Kubeja of Oroville, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Highland Manor for Irene’s wonderful care and the kindness they showed her. Also, special thanks goes to Lenora Miller for all her assistance and love shown to the family and Irene.
Viewing and rosary will be held at the Virgin Valley Mortuary on Wednesday, October 24 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral mass and graveside service will be on Thursday, October 25 at 11 AM with gravesite service immediately following mass. Interment will be at the old Mesquite Cemetery under the direction of Virgin Valley Mortuary, 702-346-6060.
