Colonel (Ret.) Hugh Meglone Milton III

Colonel (Ret.) Hugh Meglone Milton III, 77, passed away April 2, 2011 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born on January 19, 1934 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Major General (Ret.) Hugh Meglone Milton II and Josephine Baldwin Milton.

Colonel Milton received a B.S. degree from Duke University in Political Science and a M.S. degree from the University of Southern California in Aeronautical Engineering. He was a 30 year career U.S. Air Force fighter pilot which included a combat tour in Vietnam from 1966-67 flying the F-105 Thunderchief (Thud). Colonel Milton's distinguished career enabled him to live, travel, and work in locations around the globe. Hugh was and will continue to be loved, respected and admired by his family and friends. He was a member of the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association, CBSA, and Super Sabre Society.

Colonel Milton is survived by his wife, Yvonne Roberts Milton, of Mesquite, NV; his son, Hugh M. Milton IV, of Austin, TX; and brother, John B. Milton, of Charleston, SC.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Mexico State University Hugh M. Milton II Memorial Scholarship Fund that was established in honor of his father.

A graveside interment service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Masonic Cemetery at 760 South Compress Road in Las Cruces, N.M. under the direction of the La Paz Graham Mortuary, 575-526-6891.
