Helen Darlene Laffoon
Helen Darlene Laffoon, age 77, died November 27, 2011 at her home in Mesquite, NV. Helen was born December 27, 1934 in Denver, Colorado, to Nels Karl and Alga Jacobson Rasmussen. Helen married Rovert Dean Laffoon February 14, 1958 in Ft. Collins, CO. Helen's work history was varied as she followed her husbands as he moved from Colorado School District to his next position. While living in Oak Creek, CO, she worked 3 years for the County Agricultural Agent. While living in Rifle, she worked 3 years in the City Office. Upon moving to Glenwood Springs, she was secretary in the Roaring Fork School Central Office from 1967 until 1981. She then became a bookkeeper for the Glenwood Spring Golf Course until 1988. Her love for competitive sports was hindered during high school because Colorado like many other states did not have organized girls interscholastic sports. Approximately 1970 she took up golf and it became a passion for 33 years until health problems ended this passion. Helen's three "hole-in-one" were among her many golf feats. Helen had a love for animals all of her life. When you reach the river, three very special friends, Biscuits, Ginger and Tatty will be waiting with a wag and lick. Helen enjoyed travel. Our 1977 trip to Denmark, home of her parents was a highlight as she had the opportunity to meet many of her relatives. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to We Care for Animals. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and brother Kenneth Rasmussen.
