Harry Brent Perkins, age 91, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in St. George, Utah. He was born August 11, 1923 in Overton, Nevada to Fay and Jennie Mae Hewitt Perkins. On June 15, 1947 he married Betty Rae Sprague in Overton. They were later sealed in the St. George LDS temple.
Harry spent most of his life in Moapa Valley. He joined the Navy and served in World War II as a radioman, flying missions in the Central Pacific and later in the Aleutian Islands. After the war, he worked for a short time at the Nunn Company (Simplot), then for the Las Vegas Police Department. He had a career as a fireman at the Nevada Test Site, then worked for the Clark County, as caretaker of the Community Center and the Parks. He later served three terms as the Moapa Valley Constable.
His hobbies included boating and fishing, reloading, and collecting and refurbishing guns. He was proud of his service to his country and commanded the Local Veterans Honor Guard for many years, including different groups of young men.
Harry is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons and one daughter; Brent (Tonya) of Caliente, NV; Roger of Mesquite, NV and Jennene (Gary) Scacco of Overton, NV; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, six brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Overton LDS Chapel with visitation from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Pioneer Hill Cemetery.
