Harry Ernest Fielder

March 18, 1926 — January 4, 2016

Harry Ernest Fielder, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2016 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born March 18, 1926 to Charles Karlton and Marvel Ethelda Ferguson Fielder. On October 25, 1947 he married the love of his life, Lavonne Patricia Gootee in Pasadena, California. She preceded him in death on August 23, 2000. In 2001, he married Agnes Brown in Las Vegas, Nevada, she passed away in 2009. On November 27, 2010 he married Ardyth Lee Welch in Beaver Dam, Arizona. All were wonderful wives and great ladies. Harry grew up in Pasadena and graduated from Franklin High School in Highland Park, California. He served in the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific during WWII and received an honorable discharge in 1946. Harry attended the University of Southern California at Los Angeles with classes in architecture and construction management. He raised his family in Alhambra, CA while working for the City of Los Angeles as a Carpenter and Building Construction Cost Estimator. Later he worked for Hughes Aircraft, retiring from there in 1985 as Major Construction Project Manager. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1990 and finally to Mesquite, Nevada in 2002. Harry was proud to be a Ham Radio Operator, call sign: WA6GLB and enjoyed golfing, wood working, cars, auto mechanics, model trains and puttering and building in his shop. He was a member of the Mesquite Lutheran Church and a Council Member. He also served on the Summer Crest II, Mesquite Home Owners Board. Survivors include his wife, Ardyth; one daughter, Beverly Fielder of Mesquite, NV; one son, Michael Fielder of Las Vegas, NV; two grandsons, Christopher and Benjamin Hodges and four great grandchildren, Cory Hodges, Alyssa Hodges, Amy Hodges and Cole Hodges. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Karlton. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Mesquite City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Virgin Valley Mortuary.
