Harold Dean Gollahon, age 81, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at his home in Overton, Nevada. He was born March 21, 1933 in Rolla, Missouri to Charles William and Lydia Matilda Stroup Gollahon. On July 22, 1959 he married Marlene Adele Eddleman in Winter Haven, California.
Dean grew up in Missouri. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He then moved to California where he began a career in concrete construction. He followed S&R Construction to Las Vegas in 1963, then stayed with them as they became General Concrete and later Stewart & Sundell Concrete. He moved his family to Overton in 1971 where he enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a positive influence on many youth, including his children, through the countless hours of service with the Clark County Livestock Show.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marlene of Overton, NV; one son and five daughters: Deana Kay (Jim) Starnes of AR; Debra (David) Reynolds of Henderson, NV; Brenda Maxwell of MO; Connie (Ron) Waldroup - Baldridge of Las Vegas, NV; Jimmy (Danea) of Overton, NV; Stacy (Jerry Corbridge) Alfonso of Overton, NV; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one brother and two sisters: Doris Patterson of Breman, GA; Don (Joanne) of N. Hollywood, CA and Susie Gollahon of Medford, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, by two sisters, Helen, Jane and one brother, Gerry.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Logandale Hinckley Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.
