Gwendolyn Elton

June 10, 1940 — March 15, 2013

Rexford DeLoy Elton, 76, passed away March 13, 2013 after a short illness. Only two days later his loving wife of 55 years, Gwendolyn Bridges Elton, 72, passed away on March 15, 2013 after a long and courageous battle. Rex was born September 13, 1936 in Palymyra, Utah to Rexford Samuel and Cleo Beck Elton. Gwen was born June 10, 1940 in Tooele, Utah to Glenn Stewart and Ada Burningham Hunt Bridges. On January 19, 1957 they were married in Tooele, Utah and raised five children. Rex spent the majority of his professional career in the automobile industry as a car salesman and later as manager. Gwen was employed by the Federal Government working at the Ogden Defense Depot. They were world travelers through Rex's efforts as top salesman and manager for Chevrolet. Rex and Gwen were very much involved in their children's lives supporting them in school, sports and school activities. Gwen was an exceptional cook and those skills and recipes have been passed down to the kids and grandkids. They were also amazing grandparents and supported all their grandkids activities. They enjoyed entertaining at their home and always made everyone feel at home when they visited. You can't think of Rex without remembering his love of the outdoors and fishing the "Pond". A master of the English language, a great story teller, and if you needed a joke, he had one. Thanks to Grandpa the kids; young and old ,can play poker, swim, fish, and shoot a gun. They both loved their retirement in Mesquite and had many good friends and relationships. Survivors include their children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 E. Old Mill Road.
