Guy Whitmore

September 30, 1936 — March 19, 2011

Guy Gentry Whitmore age 74, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born September 30, 1936 in St. George, Utah to Roxton and Adella Gentry Whitmore the youngest of and the last survivor of 12 children and the only one born in a hospital. On March 11, 1961 he married Rosetta "Rose" Atwood in Las Vegas, Nevada. On June 11, 1966 , they were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple. Guy spent his school years in Overton and dearly loved the time his family spent at Gold Butte. He was a life-long member of the LDS church and dearly loved missionary work, serving two years as a missionary to Western Canada. He served in several positions including Elders Quorum President, Seventies President ,Stake Mission President, Ward Mission Leader twice, Sunday School President and Seminary Teacher. Survivors include Rose, his wife of 50 years, daughters Leslie (Tracy) Foster of Meridian, ID; Dr. Eva (Amanda Hill) Whitmore of Oakland, CA; Adella (Travis) Outlaw of Summerville, SC and Cori (Craig Collup) Whitmore of Overton, NV; granddaughters: Brianne (Stephen Jones) Perkins, Lindsay Foster, Madisyn Foster; grandsons: Daniel and Kyle Perkins and Mason Outlaw: several nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Overton LDS Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the services at the chapel. Interment will be in the St. Thomas Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the St. Thomas Memorial Cemetery, either in person or Moapa Valley Credit Union account number 8972-4.
