Gerald Scott "Scotty" Hill

February 16, 1953 — September 18, 2017

Gerald Scott Hill, 64, passed away on September 18, 2017 in his home in Scenic, AZ. Scotty was born on February 16, 1953 in Portland, OR to Richard LeRoy Hill and Armenia W. Roles. He married Mary Marguerite Hatton in Woodburn, OR. on May 28, 1993 and in Las Vegas, NV on April 5, 2017.

Scotty was raised in the state of Oregon, where he and his two brothers, Daryl and Randy, would spend their summers on the North Umpqua River, fishing and swimming. As Scotty left home, he joined the Army at age seventeen, where he was stationed in Korea and in Germany. When he left the Army he started to work as a mechanic until his brother taught him to paint, and they started their own business together. In his free time, Scott loved to race sprint cars with his son Richard and watch NASCAR. He would still go fishing with his brothers and daughters and granddaughters. He loved spending time with his grandson, Tyler, whether it be shooting guns, riding ATV’s, swimming or just hanging out, they just liked to be together. He would always enjoy an old Western, like Smoking Guns, Silverado, Gun Smoke and Bonanza. Scotty was blessed with the "Gift of Gab", and was always the life of the party. He never knew a stranger, and would always go out of his way to meet new people. He loved his wife Rita, and always liked to tease her.

Scotty is survived by his wife Rita Hill; his son Richard (Kila) Hill; his daughters Lisa (Rick) Houston, Melinda (Martin) Regules Machuca, and Shannon Downs; his grandchildren Taylor Houston, Sarah Houston, Tyler Chotikamars, Haley Hill, Raelyn Hill, Khloe Hill, and Brady Hill; two great-grandchildren, Adalee and Leighton; and his two brothers, Daryl Hill and Randy Hill. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Armenia Hill.

Private family services will be held a later date. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at Mesa View Hospice and Home Health Care for their wonderful service and care for Scott with a special thank you to Dr. Alfaro The family invites you to leave a message or memory on their "Guest Book" at www.virginvalleymortuary.com.
