George’s life is best described in Golf Terms:
Front Nine: The start of the game, born and raised in Boulder City, he graduated in the Class of 1966 from Boulder City High School, then he earned a B.S. in math from UNLV in 1970 and UNR in 1973 with a BS in Civil Engineering. He would have continued his education, but his dad kept telling him to earn some money and stop spending his dad’s money. He worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron for 10 years, on job sites all over the US and abroad, most notably, The Alaskan Pipeline, Colorado Penstocks and in Libya and Indonesia. He enjoyed every golf course along the way.
Back Nine: The most important holes in golf. It tests the player and gave George his enduring qualities. He settled down by having a family and working for the city of Henderson. He retired in 2006 as the engineering services manager after 20 years. After his double lung transplant at UCLA in 2005, life threw him bogey after double bogey, but he amazed everyone with his ability to defy the odds and do it with an awe inspiring positive attitude. He shared with everyone his unwavering faith in God and his love of family, Diet Pepsi, Golf, scriptures, a good (or bad) game of cards, SciFi movies and travel.
