George Edward Berry

Mesquite, NV - George Edward Berry, 71, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018, at his home. He was born on October 31, 1946, in Pennsylvania, to William James Berry and Crystal Claire Evans. He married Patricia Ann McBride in Largo, Florida on June 26, 1992.

George was raised in Danville, Pennsylvania, where he attended high school. His vast education allowed him to be the first male nurse to graduate from Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing, graduating in 1970; then attending the Northwestern Louisiana University; receiving a BSN in 1975; attending the University of Central Michigan; graduating with an MSN in 1979; to receiving a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Websters University in 1988. His military career spanned 20 years, being stationed at Fort Polk, LA; Tripler Army Medical Center; West Point, NY; Fort Belvar, VA; Fort Jackson, SC; and Fort San Houston, TX. He retired as a Major, working in several stations such as Infection Control and in Administration. George was also an excellent cook. He loved fishing with his brothers on the St. Lawrence River in Canada. His many hobbies included gambling at the local casinos, creating stained glass pieces, studying the civil war and music. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his wife; Patricia McBride Berry, daughter; Nicole (Mark) Ariail; son, Jonathan Berry, stepsons; Paul Matthew Mcbride and Michael Dean McBride. His grandchildren; Megan Danielle, William Paul, Samuel, Zachary Hamilton, Nicolas Alexander, Christian Matthew, Alexandra "Ali Clarie", Aoife, Lorelei and Matthew. Preceded in death by his older brothers; William and Richard Berry.
