Gene S Halls

Gene S Halls, age 84, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at his daughter's home in Huntington Beach, California. He was born May 19, 1925 in Huntsville, Utah to Earl and Anna Eliza Winter Halls. In 1945 he married Effie Keyes, they had two daughters and were later divorced. On October 20, 1953 he married Anna Ruth Carr in the St. George LDS Temple.

Gene grew up in Morgan, Utah. During the war he worked in the Hill AFB machine shop rebuilding engines. In 1951, he moved to California to work with his brother Glenn at his new safe manufacturing business, where he was a lead design engineer and later as CEO of the company. He retired to Logandale, Nevada in 1995. While in Southern California, he served in many different church callings, including 16 years as a stake missionary and later as a Bishop. He loved spending time in the outdoors with his family.

Survivors include his wife Anna of 55 years; three sons and four daughters: Trudy Lynn Findlay of Clearfield, UT; Rainelle Mikesell of Layton, UT; David Gene (Lynn) of Lilburn, GA; Connie Ruth (Greg) Thompson of Temecula, CA; Steven Clay (Kim) of El Cajon, CA; Ellen Marie (Greg) Clifford of Huntington Beach, CA; Earl Glenn (Jennifer) of Long Beach, CA; 23 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters: Lorin of Morgan, UT; Don (Barbara) of Roy, UT; Joy (Dean) Foxley of Syracuse, UT and Lois Maxwell of Roy, UT.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Logandale LDS Stake Center, 2555 St. Joseph St., Logandale, Nevada. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. A second visitation will be held Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 11a.m. at Walker Mortuary, 45 W. 200 N., Morgan, Utah. Interment will follow in the Morgan Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary, 702 398-3600.
