Gayland D Robison

Gayland D Robison, age 78, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at his summer home in Cedar City, Utah. He was born June 29, 1929 in Lyman, Idaho to George David and Marilla Simpson Robison. On October 11, 1951 he married Carol Sutton in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Gayland was raised in the small farming community of Lyman, Idaho. In 1951 he entered the US Air Force and served as an air traffic controller during the Korean Conflict. He then moved his young family to Rexburg, ID where he farmed while attending Ricks College. He received his Bachelors and Master's Degree from Utah State and accepted a job in Ag Research in Overton, Nevada. He would later earn his PHD at University of Arizona. He worked for the University of Nevada Reno for 30 years at the experiment station in Logandale where he raised his family.

Gayland was always faithful in the LDS Church, serving in many Bishoprics and with his wife in the Frankfurt Germany Temple. He served his community in many ways and was instrumental in helping to establish the current Clark County Fairgrounds in Logandale. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and he will be missed.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years, Carol of Overton; three sons and two daughters: Michael (Debbie) of Henderson, NV; Julie (Guy) Doty of Logandale, NV; Leesa (David) Lyman of Las Vegas, NV; Jon (Sandy) of Caruthers, CA; Todd (Denise) of Logandale, NV: 24 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; four sisters: Betty (Ben) Clark of Rexburg, ID; Vendla (Grant) Jemmett of Notis, ID; Gwenna Young of Rexburg, ID and Joy Leatham of Meridian, ID. He was preceded in death by one great grandchild and by one sister.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Logandale LDS Stake Center. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2008 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Stake Center and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Logandale Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary, 702 398-3600.
