Gay Norine Armstrong Pendleton, 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in Henderson, Nevada. She was born July 26, 1925 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Joseph Dalley and Norine Streeper Armstrong. When Gay was just 10 days old, her mother died and when she was almost four, her father married Myrtie Jensen. Togehter they raised a wonderful and caring daughter.
Gay grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho, graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1943. She graduated from BYU in 1947. She landed her first teaching job at Beaver High school where she taught PE for one year. In 1948 she relocated to St. George teaching English and PE at Woodward Junior and Dixie High.
In 1951 she met and was courted by Keith Pendleton. They married June 17, 1952 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. In June 1953 they moved to Henderson, Nevada where they raised their family live the rest of their lives together. After 56 years of marriage, and three wonderful children, Keith passed in 2008.
Gay taught 2nd garde at C.T. Sewell Elementary School for 27 years. She was loved by her many students and remembered as an excellent and dedicated teacher. She will be remebered for her love and devotion to family. She was a truly kind and generous woman with a positive and cheerful attitude. She had a passion for genealogy and family history. She was active in the LDS Church and held many callings and leadership positions including temple ordinance worker in the Las Vegas Temple.
Survivors include one son and two daughters: Kathleen (Don) Spellman; Susan (John) Harris both of Henderson, NV; David (Vickie) of Alpine, UT; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Aleen (Duane) Gardner; brothers, Joseph R. (JoAnn) Armstrong, and Charles S. (Karen) Armstorng. She was preceded in death by one sister, Beth Jaussi.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Henderson Horizon Ward LDS Chapel, 400 South Water Street, Henderson, NV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. (Utah Time) at the St. George City Cemetery, St. George, UT. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.
