Gary Eldon Hillius, Jr., passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 in St. George, Utah. He was born February 24, 1977 in Delta, Utah to Candice Kay Abrams Hillius and Gary Eldon Hillius, Sr.. On February 3, 2001 he married Leora Marell Potter in Bunkerville, Nevada. They were sealed in November of 2014 in the St. George LDS Temple. They were sealed to their daughter, Truly, in May of 2021.
Gary spent most of his childhood in Delta and Hinckley, Utah and some time in Washington state. He graduated from Job Corps in Anaconda, Montana, completing his high school education and certifying as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and Welder. Gary had several jobs in his earlier years, but spent the last 20 years working for Mesquite Gaming in the warehouse.
Gary loved life, the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, especially as he started coaching and supporting his children in their activities. He had a soft spot for animals and often brought home stray animals that he would nurture and care for.
He is survived by his wife, Leora Marell Potter of Mesquite, NV and his four children; Wyatt Eldon, Addie Marell, Madux Kegan, Truly Ann.
A Celebration of his life with visitation will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 3 - 6 p.m. at the Hafen Ranch House, 750 Peppermill Palms Blvd, Littlefield, AZ (Scenic). Graveside services will be Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Mesquite City Cemetery, 301 Hillside Drive, Mesquite, NV.
