Franklin John Phinney

August 20, 1944 — April 23, 2016

Franklin Phinney, age 71, passed away at his home in Mesquite, Nevada on April 23, 2016. He was born to Frank and Marguerite (Anderson) Phinney on August 20, 1944 in Jackson, Minnesota.

Franklin worked in the Iron Ore Mines in Mt. Iron and Eveleth in Minnesota and was a construction truck driver for Teamsters Local 346 in Duluth, Minnesota. In 1986 he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and worked for Kalb Construction for 10 years and Teamsters Local 631 for 11 years.

He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Phinney; mother, Marguerite Ekroos; step father, Reino S. Ekroos; brother, Curtis Phinney; and son, Lee Phinney. He is survived by his son, Daniel (Diane) Phinney of Black Hawk, SD; daughter, Dana (Jack) Dobson of Mesquite, NV; daughter-in-law, Brenna (Lee) Phinney of Cloquet, MN; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister, Jan Ekroos of New Brighton, MN; sister in law, Bonnie Phinney of Eveleth, MN; nieces and nephews; and special friends: John and Donna Frisch of West Eveleth, MN and Dave and Toots Weiberg of Hoyt Lakes, MN.
