Florence Barrows

Florence May Barrows, age 89, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at her home in Bunkerville, Nevada. She was born February 2, 1921 in Montreal, Wisconsin to Thomas John and Martha Jane Lugg Dowrick. On February 20, 1943 she married John Rupert Barrows in Highland Park, Michigan. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2000, after 57 years of marriage. Florence grew up in Montreal. In 1947 she and John moved to Southern California where they raised their family. After John retired, they moved to Payson, Arizona. In 1999 she moved to Yucca Valley, California to be near family, finally moving in with her daughter in Bunkerville, Nevada four years ago. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a past Mother Advisor of the Rainbow for girls. She enjoyed needlework, knitting and other crafts and the company of her dog "Sweetie Pie". Survivors include one son and two daughters: Thomas John (Cathy) of Diamond Bar, CA; Barbara Louise Kelley of Los Alamitos, CA; Shirley Jean (James) West of Bunkerville, NV; ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Ina Rae) of WI and one sister, Rosemary of Yucca Valley, CA.
