Filemon Romero - Garcia, de 67 años, murió el lunes 16 de agosto de 2021 en St. George, Utah. Nació el 6 de junio de 1954 en León, Guanajuato, México de Juan y Josefa García Hernández Romero. El 3 de julio de 1976 se casó con Yolanda Rodríguez en Los Ángeles, California.
Filemon pasó sus primeros años en México antes de mudarse a California a la edad de quince años. Vivió en el área de The Compton, donde obtuvo su diploma de escuela secundaria y ciudadanía. Trabajó durante 20 años en Cal-Style Furniture, donde se ganó la reputación de ser un trabajador dedicado y duro. En 1996, se mudó con su familia a Mesquite, NV, donde trabajó como cajero en la jaula del casino en el Oasis Hotel and Casino. Después de que cerró el Oasis, trabajó en el Virgin River Casino. Le encantaba seguir a sus Dodgers de Los Ángeles y cuidar su césped. Le apasionaba cuidar a los demás y pasar tiempo con su familia.
Los sobrevivientes incluyen a su esposa Molanda de Mesquite: dos hijas y dos hijos: Maggie (Michael) Magadan de Las Vegas, NV; Claudia (Liam) Canavan de Queens, NY; Andy de Mesquite, NV; Norberto de Henderson, NV; siete nietos; dos bisnietos; cuatro hermanos y tres hermanas. Se celebrará una misa fúnebre en su honor el domingo 23 de agosto de 2021 a las 10:00 am en La Iglesia Católica La Virgen de Guadalupe. Filemon Romero - Garcia, age 67, died Monday, August 16, 2021 in St. George, Utah. He was born June 6, 1954 in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico to Juan and Josefa Garcia Hernandez Romero. On July 3, 1976 he married Yolanda Rodriguez in Los Angeles, California.
Filemon spent his early years in Mexico before moving to California at the age of fifteen. He lived in the Compton area where he earned his high school diploma. He worked for 20 years at Cal Style Furniture where he earned a reputation as a dedicated, hard worker. In 1996, he moved his family to Mesquite, Nevada where he worked as cashier in the casino cage at the Oasis Hotel and Casino. After the Oasis closed, he worked at the Virgin River Hotel Casino. He loved following his Los Angeles Dodgers and working in the yard. He was passionate about caring for others and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Yolanda of Mesquite; two daughters and two sons: Maggie (Michael) Magadan of Las Vegas, NV; Claudia (Liam) Canavan of Queens, NY; Andy of Mesquite, NV; Norberto of Henderson, NV; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in his honor on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the La Virgen de Guadalupe Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Virgin Valley Mortuary. Interment will follow in the Mesquite City Cemetery on Hardy Way.
