Fausta "Marta" Ortiz

Fausta "Marta" Nieto Ortiz, age 82, died at her son's home in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, July 18, 2009. She was born September 6, 1926 in Los Fresnos, Texas to Luis and Jesusa Acosta Nieto. She was married to Marcial Pedro Ortiz, they had eleven children together. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2000.

Marta grew up in Los Fresnos, as a young married woman, she and her husband moved to Moapa Valley, Nevada in 1949 where they raised their family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking for her family. Her faith and motherly love united her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include six sons and five daughters: Aurelio (Nora); Ernesto; Pedro Jr. (Maria) all of Las Vegas, NV; Cenovio; Paulita both of Logandale, NV; Juanita Marcial of Overton, NV; Maria Esther (Oscar) Anchondo of Moapa, NV; Jose Luis (Barbara) of WA; Maria Luisa (Dario) Ortega of Sandy Valley, NV; David (Annette) of Windsor, CO; Juanita Ortiz Robinson of Las Vegas, NV; two step sons: Francisco of Arizona; Cruz of Mexico; 23 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers: Ramiro of Las Vegas, NV; Daniel; Luis of Texas; three sisters: Lillie Nieto; Victoria Alvarez both of Texas and Jesusa Pena of Idaho. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ramon Nieto.

A Funeral Mass will be held her in her honor, Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Logandale, Nevada. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 6-8 at the Moapa Valley Mortuary. Interment will be in the Logandale Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
