Euland Zecher
Euland Arthur Zecher, age 87, died Monday, November 8, 2010 in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born June 18, 1923 in West Carthage, New York to Arthur David and Hazel Aldrich Zecher. On October 20, 1954 he married Shirley Anne Skretteberg in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Euland grew up in upstate New York in Lowville. He enlisted in the US Air Force serving in the Pacific Theater of WWII. He made a career of the military and was involved in the Berlin Airlift of 1948, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War as a flight engineer. He retired from Hill Air Force Base.
Following his retirement, he managed a recreation camp in the Uinta Mountains for 25 years. In 2006, he moved with Shirley to Mesquite, Nevada. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards with his friends, and just tinkering around the house. He enjoyed traveling and going on cruises.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Mesquite, NV; three daughters: Laurel (Michael) Riley of Salt Lake City, UT; Mary Sue (Kevin) Erickson of Ft. Bridger, WY; Brenda (Dale) Wise of Layton, UT; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one sister, Barbara DeLaPorte of NY. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lorraine.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Mesquite Lutheran Church, 450 Turtleback Road, Mesquite, NV. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.virginvalleymortuary.com.
