Eugene "Gene" Richison
Eugene V. "Gene" Richison, 88, was born in C-Tree, Oklahoma on July 6, 1922 and died at his home in Mesquite, Nevada of natural causes on January 28, 2011.
Gene proudly served his country in the U.S. 7th Cavalry in the Philippines in WWII, earning the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals. A lifetime civil servant, Gene worked in the Railway Postal Service, at the Naval Ammunitions Depot in McAlester, Oklahoma and at the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake, California. Always a proud veteran and patriot, Gene was a member of the American Legion and served as Commander of the VFW Post 4084, Ridgecrest, California. Gene was also a 32nd degree Freemason.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Joy, as well as all of his siblings. He is survived by his beloved partner and companion Norma Meuser of Mesquite, NV; children Sidney and Jeannine Richison of Nipomo, CA, Gary Richison of Mesquite, NV, and Richard Richison of San Diego, CA; grandchildren Jenifer Richison of Kansas City, MO, Kelley Richison of Costa Mesa, CA, Scott and Erin Richison of San Diego, CA, Eric and Tiffany Richison of San Leandro, CA, Richard and Robin Richison of San Diego, CA, Kyle Richison of Arlington, VA, and Jill Richison of San Diego, CA; and great grandchildren Alicia, Summer, Maxwell and Johnny all of San Diego, CA.
Gene was a devoted husband, companion, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family and country were his joys in life. Gene Richison was truly a member of the Greatest Generation.
