Eugene Kastaros passed away in Mesquite, Nevada on July 1, 2017. He was born on August 6, 1929 to Nick and Ruth Katsaros in Peoria, Illinois and raised in Kahoka, Missouri.
Gene married Virginia Mcfee in 1955. They had two children together, Mark and Kim. They divorced and Gene married Nila Taylor in 1983.
Gene served in the Air Force and was in the Korean War. He worked in retail business and retired from there. He then worked at Norton AFB as a gardener until it closed in 1994. He moved to California in 1956 and then to Mesquite, Nevada in 1994. He was known in Mesquite as "bicycle man". He enjoyed repairing bikes for everyone. He also worked at Mesquite Lumber for two years.
He is survived by his wife Nila of 34 years; son Mark of Harrisburg, Missouri; four grandchildren: Shamon, Starlight, Sammy Kataros, and Konrad Scibner; four stepchildren: Larry Taylor, Rhonda Giza, Nancy Tabbert and Tom Taylor; and 8 step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter Kim; grandson Kord; his sister Pat Dickey; and his parents.
