Ernie Gibbens, Jr.

Ernie Gibbens, Jr., age 86, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at his home in Cedar City, Utah. He was born May 19, 1929 in Alpine, Texas to Ernest and Annie Margaret Douglass Gibbens, Sr. On January 8, 2002 he married Joan Elizabeth Johns in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ernie grew up in New Mexico and Texas. As a young man he worked in the oil industry which allowed him to live in many areas of the country, including Texas, Wyoming and Montana. He retired to Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked as a bus driver for the city transit system. He loved spending time at his cabin above Cedar City, where he recently moved year round.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; three sons: Gene (Laurie) of Sonora, TX; John (Margaret) of Rock Springs, WY; Scott (Linda) of Lance Creek, WY; step children: Kim (Kyle) Whitney of Vista, CA; Myrna Soderquist of Las Vegas, NV; LaRee Murray of Cedar City, UT; Wayne Murray of Las Vegas, NV; Clay Murray of Cedar City, UT; Matt (Julie) LaCroix of Overton, NV; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and one sister, Mildred (Travis) Jenkins of Texas.

Graveside services will be Friday, October 16, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. at the Logandale Cemetery with a visitation from 3:30 - 4 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
