Elsie Mae Collins

Elsie Mae Collins, age 107, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at her home in Mesquite, Nevada. She was born May 9, 1914 in Macon, Georgia to Alex and Annie Kate Gates Kier. She married Alfonso Collins.

Elsie grew up in Kelly, Georgia. She raised her family in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Los Angeles, California and later Lincoln, Nebraska. Later in life she moved to southern California to be near her children that had migrated west, finally settling in Mesquite in 2009. Elsie earned her degree in nursing. She assisted many people with her nursing degree in her long career as a nurse. She had a streak of adventure running through her. She loved riding her motorcycles, first a beautiful Indian and later her Harley.

Survivors include three sons and one daughter: John (Gloria) of Mesquite, NV; Mario of Aurora, CO; Willie of Los Angeles, CA; Annie Collins of Mesquite, NV; 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, Alfonso, Charles, Robert and by one brother, E.B. Kier.
