Elise (Bunker) James

Elise Bunker James, age 70, passed away on October 6th, 2019 at her home in Overton, NV, surrounded by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Stephen; mother-in-law Jane, and father-in-law Armond; 9 children Rachel, Jeremy, Jenefer, Gary, Jessica, Emily, Nathan, Sarah and Susan; as well as 37 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.

Elise was born in American Fork, UT on Feb 16th, 1949 to mother Velda Rachel Carson, and father Edward Carlyle Bunker. She was the youngest of 7 siblings with 3 older brothers and 3 older sisters. She grew up in Orem, Ut where her family owned and operated Bunkers Feed Mill, and where she learned a variety of skills from her mother, gaining a particular love of canning and sewing, which she would put to use regularly in her own family to sew prom dresses, can her famous chili sauce and create many more things with her hands which are remembered fondly.

On December 5th, 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, Stephen and began her family, which would be her greatest passion and dearest treasure for the remainder of her life. Her love and care for both her husband and her children was boundless and her circle of love would only continue to grow with the addition of each grandchild, great-grandchild, son and daughter-in-law, in a way that seemed endless. Her capacity to love and support was astonishing to all who knew her, as was her ability to remember and retell stories about those she loved…something that she was very fond of. This care for others also spread beyond her family, into her roles as a 4-H Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Office Manager for the Clark County School District, and an active member of each community in which she found herself throughout her life. Her last 15 years were lived in the community of Overton NV, where she spent her time with family, working in her garden, and making new and dear relationships with friends there.

Elise was loved dearly, and will be greatly missed, but her family looks forward to being with her again, and experiencing her endless love well into the eternities.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the St. Thomas Ward Chapel, 226 W. Thomas Street, Overton, Nevada. Visitation will be held from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be Monday, October 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. (MST) at the Tonaquint Cemetery, St. George, Utah.
