Elena Torres, age 81, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at her home in Overton, Nevada. She was born October 22, 1932 in Mendoza, Argentina to Pedro and Maria Susana Ruiz Torres. She was married to Luis Antonio Barnes, they had three children and were later divorced. Elena lived much of her early life in Argentina. She came to the United States in 1990, living in Rancho Cucamonga, California where she worked as a caregiver. In 2001 she moved to Moapa Valley. She loved people, dancing, singing, playing the piano and visiting friends. She joined the LDS Church while living in Argentina. She remained active throughout her life, serving as a teacher and as a temple ordinance worker. Survivors include one son and two daughters: Bibiana (Jeremy) Graffam of Logandale, NV; Claudia (John) Platts of Alto Loma, CA; Roberto (Frances) Barnes of Big Island, HI; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Pedro and Hector (Graciela) all of Argentina. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will follow in the Logandale Cemetery.
