Edwin Thomas Case
July 7, 1920 — August 9, 2012
Edwin T. Case passed away on August 9, 2012 in St. George, Utah. He was born July 7,1920 in Ashland, Kentucky. He was the only child of Edwin Hallock Case and Maude Webb. Ed remembered his mother reading to him often in his youth which helped developed his interest in books and guided his career choices. He graduated from Morehead State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1941.
Ed served his country during World War II in the United States Navy, and was assigned to various areas of the South Pacific.
He married Dorothy Sessions in Bountiful, Utah. Their marriage was afterwards solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Ed and Dorothy were the parents of five children. Ed worked in the Davis County School District as a teacher and later as a principal of Adelaide, South Bountiful, Boulton, Tolman, Fremont and Hill Field Elementary schools. He was the summer YMCA camp director in the Soapstone area of the High Uintah Mountains in the 50's and 60's.
Dorothy passed away January 9, 1990. Ed then married Colleen Clark on April 13, 1990. She preceded him in death on January 13, 2005.
Throughout his life he served in many capacities as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints.
He was also preceded in death by his oldest son Leland S. Case. Ed is survived by daughter-in-law Karen Case, Murray, UT; daughter, Mary (Gary) Poppleton, Logan, UT; son, Edwin (Ted) Case (DaLynn) Bountiful, UT; son, Bret (Wanda) Case, rock Hill, SC; daughter, Cindy Hansen, Orem UT; 19 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Also surviving are step-children; Doyleen (Carl) Gustafson, Maricopa, AZ; Collins (Laura) Clark, Maricopa, AZ; and Cynthia (John) Johnson, Mesquite, NV.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Virgin Valley Mortuary at 12:00 p.m. friends and family may visit at the Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 E. Old Mill Road, Mesquite, Nevada from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Mesquite cemetery under the direction of Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 E. Old Mill Rd. Mesquite, NV.
