Edward F. Tallman, also known as "Fast Eddie", passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada with his loving wife, Jen (Alma) at his side. Ed was born August 10, 1932 in Crane, Texas to Roy Clinton and Inabell Spradlin Tallman. On January 31, 1975 he married Jen, his wife of 40 years. Ed graduated high school in Odessa, Texas. He joined the Air Force in August of 1950 and completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas. After serving two years as a drill instructor at Lackland he went to jet engine mechanic tech school. After his service, he used the G.I. bill and attended a tech school studying air frame and power plant design. He began his civilian career with Lockheed and worked at Edwards, AFB, CA where he met Chuck Yeager and other famous test pilots. Later, he went to work for General Electric as an aircraft service engineer in Germany. After returning to the states he worked in Trenton, NJ at the Naval Air Test Stations testing jet engines. In 1967 he began working for the federal government in air systems research (classified) all over the world. He and his family lived in San Antonio where he retired from federal service in 1993. He and Jen remained in San Antonio until they moved to Mesquite in 2004. Ed fought cardiovascular disease for 35 years of his life. Survivors include his wife, Alma Jeniece; three daughters by his first wife Beth: Leslie (Dwight) Duncan, Racine, MN; Kathleen Tallman, Hondo TX; and Laura (Mark) Westerman, Victoria, TX; five loving grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Ed is preceded in death by his father, Roy Tallman; his mother, Inabell Tallman and his brother Ronald. A celebration of life will be held in the spring. The family would like to express deep appreciation to Mesa View Hospice for all the kindness and care they gave to Ed and his family during this difficult time.
