Edward Newton Jones passed away at 11pm on April 28 at the Dixie Regional Hospital in St. George, Utah from complications from recent strokes. Ed was born in Rawlins, Wyoming to Loyd C. Jones and Myrtle A. Melton. His final resting place will be in Wasatch Lawn Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013.
Ed was a self-taught entrepreneur enabling him to pursue his business endeavors in the construction and bar and restaurant fields. He was a salesman in his early to mid years and later owned Batters Up in Salt Lake City, Utah. His outgoing personality endeared him to many customers, many becoming life-long friends and business associates. He and Elaine loved to golf in their retirement years on the many local Mesquite golf courses.
Ed is survived by his long time love, Elaine (Mattson) Jones, whom he recently married September, 21, 2012; Randy Jones, Las Vegas, NV; Ricky (Carol) Jones, Sauk Rapids, MN; Timothy (Judi) Jones, St. Cloud, MN; Bryan Jones, Titusville, FL; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; 4 nephews; 1 niece; and many friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Shirley Johnson.
