Edward Julius Dollenmayer, age 79, passed away Wednesday July 21, 2021 at his home after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Edward was born June 16, 1942 in Cincinnati, OH to William and Elisabeth (Toth) Dollenmayer. He moved to Columbus, Ohio at age 7 with his family and attended the St. Catherine Elementary School; the St. Charles Preparatory High School; and graduated from The Ohio State University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He was a member of the R.O.T.C. and was inducted into the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant in 1965. After Serving in the Army, he was employed with the Keener Sand & Clay Company in Columbus for 36 years. Also during that time, Ed served as a Business Manager for his wife’s dance studio.
After retirement, he and his wife moved to Sun City, Mesquite, Nevada where he enjoyed golf, travel, friends, and Sun City activities. He was an Ohio State football fan his entire life and was a member of the local Buckeye Club in Mesquite. Being an avid sports fan, he coached youth baseball and basketball teams for the St. Matthew Parish in Gahanna, Ohio and the Gahanna Little League. Ed was a member of the St. Matthew Parish in Gahanna, Ohio where he served on several committees and parish functions. He served as an usher for many years for the Church of The Resurrection in New Albany, Ohio, and the La Virgin de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mesquite, Nevada.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Judith (Brown) Dollenmayer Mesquite, NV; sons, Dr. Patrick Dollenmayer (Sherry) of Powell, OH, Brian Dollenmay (Lilly) of Thousand Oaks, CA, Kevin Dollenmayer of Westerville, OH; grandchildren, Simone, Ben, Alex, and Renee Dollenmayer of Powell, OH, Dominique Dollenmayer of New Orleans, LA, Sophia and Noah Dollenmayer of Thousand Oaks, CA, Emma and Ryan Dollenmayer of Westervill, OH; brother-in-law, James Brown of Commercial Point, OH, Laurence MacDonald of Flint, MI; one niece and five nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Elizabeth MacDonald.
Friends will be received Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm and 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Maeder-Quint-Tiberi Funeral Home located at 1068 S. High St., Columbus, OH. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday at 10:30 am at the Church of the Resurrection located at 6300 E. Dublin Granville Rd. New Albany OH. Father Timothy MacDonald Celebrant and Father Adam MacDonald Homily. Burial to follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery.
