Mesquite, Nevada – Doug Wegner, 68, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Dixie Hospital, St. George, Utah. He was born February 20, 1952 in Denver, Colorado to Gordon and Pat (Zehrung) Wegner. He married Norma (Coffey) on July 25, 1986 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Aurora, Colorado.

Doug grew up in Denver, Colorado Springs, and a short while in Salt Lake City, Utah, then graduated from Fairmont High School in Boulder, Colorado. After graduation, he joined the US Navy where he served for 6 years at Oak Harbor Naval Air Station as an electronics engineer responsible for repairing avionics so A-6s remained in the air. After he was injured in the Navy at Oak Harbor, he moved back to Denver as a disabled veteran. He worked successfully as an office and banking equipment salesman for Lewan and Associates in their Denver and Boulder offices. Most of his adult life he worked in sales until he attended Colorado Christian majoring in music direction.

He had a strong Christian faith and loved Christian music and leading choirs in Dillon and Silverthorne, Colorado, Fort Myers, Florida and leading music and preaching at Highland Manor. He was active in Christian Community Church, where he was a charter member. He helped with men’s Bible studies and sang in the choir. His wonderful rich bass will be missed.

Outside being active in the church, he loved to cruise, especially Alaska. He loved the landscape, and we sailed the inside, outside and glacier passages.

He is survived by his wife, three children and their spouses: David, Paul, and Kathleen. He also leaves 9 grandchildren and his ex-wife Linda These all call Minnesota home. His two sisters Shari and Lori live in Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Doug preferred cremation and we have chosen to hold memorial services in July 25,2021 to commemorate their 35th wedding anniversary.
