Doris Ilean (Lindsay) Gessell

October 17, 1937 — March 12, 2018

Doris Ilean Gessell, 80, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at her home in Mesquite, NV. She was born October 17, 1937 in Fort Duchesne, UT, to George Geddes Lindsay and Thelma Luella Anderson. She married Roger Earl Gessell in Las Vegas, NV, on March 8, 1958.

Doris loved to go camping with her family where they would enjoy long days of fishing and hunting. She was raised in Mountain Home, UT and would go arrowhead hunting in the area her whole life. She and Roger would often go to Mesquite, NV, to go to the casinos and moved there after they retired.

She was a great and wonderful mother. Doris loved all of her family and would take care of many of them as they aged and passed away. Along with raising her children, she raised three granddaughters and made Roger learn how to style their hair. She was selfless, helpful and was stubborn when she set her mind on something. Talking with her family was very important to her and her first "chore" of the day was to call her daughter, Pam.

Doris is survived by her husband, Roger; her daughter, Pamela Green (Darin) of McAllister, MT; her sons, David Gessell of Kearns, UT and Scott Gessell (Bobbi) of Vernal, UT; her sister, Janet Suddreth of Vernal, UT; eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Utah Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, UT 84065 with Graveside Services following at 1:00 p.m. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their Guest Book at www.virginvalleymortuary.com.
