Donald Thomas Shreck

January 5, 1928 — June 13, 2014

Donald Thomas Shreck was welcomed into the loving arms of his lifelong sweetheart of 60 years on June 13, 2014, when he passed away at his home in Beaver Dam, AZ. Born on January 5, 1928 in Ogden, Utah to George Earl Shreck and Marie M. Dodson Shreck. Married Vernie Eva Blue on March 31, 1951 in Ogden, Utah, she died October 2010. Don graduated from Ogden High School in 1946.

Don loved fishing and golfing. He played many courses over the years. He worked hard all his life from selling newspapers, magazines, insurance, real estate and even owning a few cafes.

Don was very civic minded and joined the Jaycees and The Elks Lodge. Don started the Roy Elks Lodge and was the first Exalted Ruler. He served as a Lodge trustee, a state trustee and a chairman. He was the District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler Utah North and a state officer. He help to build a Elks camp for handicapped children and also a handicapped Boy Scout Troop.

When Don and his wife retired they traveled and played a lot of golf. They settled in Beaver Dam, AZ. Don loved wood working and made many bird houses and wine racks that everyone loved.

Of all the things that Don accomplished in his lifetime, his family and friends meant the most to him. There were no strangers in his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernie, parents; 2 sisters, Jean Jolley and Floy Hopple; and 2 grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters; Sandra B. McAllister of Beaver Dam, AZ and Deanna F. (Tom) Delgado of Las Vegas, NV; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held on July 24, 2014 at 11:00am at the Dixie Elks Lodge, 630 West 1250 North, St. George. The family requests in lieu of flowers, send donations to Camp Wapiti, P.O. Box 18483 Kearns, UT 84118-0483.
