Donald LaVerne Francis, age 78, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born February 15, 1932 to George Washington and Winsom Ila Ezra Francis in Rockwell, Iowa. On July 9, 1983 he married Hazel Williams in the West Jordan Utah LDS Temple. Donald grew up in Rockwell and Mason City, Iowa. He moved to Casper, Wyoming in his early 20's. After his marriage to Hazel, he raised his family in Moapa, Nevada, then in Deaver, Wyoming before coming back to Moapa. He was a master carpenter and was very proud of his craftsmanship on the Las Vegas Nevada and Billings, Montana LDS Temples. He enjoyed the excitement of buying and selling at auctions, painting and time with his family. He loved the gospel and he will be remembered for his sense of humor, and his work ethic. Survivors include his wife, Hazel of Moapa; four sons and three daughters: Michael (Susan) Janka of Clear Lake, IA; Anita of IA; James (Pam) of Casper, WY; Michelle (Doug) Johnson of MT; Chad (Danielle) of Omaha, NE; Michael (Stephanie) of Roberts, ID; April (Dominic) Drosos of Logandale, NV and ten grandchildren. Memorial services will be Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Moapa LDS Chapel. Arrangements under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
