Donald Lee Adams, age 89, died, Thursday, April 24, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born April 1, 1925 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio to John Jewett and Florence Ethel Burt Adams. On August 11, 1948 he married Lois Jean Brady in Vernal, Utah.
Donald grew up in Ohio until the family moved to Texas when he was a young man. From 1942 -‘44 he served in the Civil Service in England. Upon his return, he entered the US Navy during WWII, serving on Saipan in the Pacific. With a visit to his brother in Vernal, Utah, he met Lois. He worked in Texas and South America for a few years, then came back to Vernal to marry his sweetheart. After chasing work around the west for 15 years, they settled in Las Vegas in 1964. He became a successful business man, owning Overhead Door Company, of Las Vegas and later A and B Construction Corporation, an underground utilities company.
He will be remembered as a maverick, tough, rugged and concerned for his family. He loved working with his sons, ranching, hunting and in the construction business. Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; one son, Jeff (Donna) of Las Vegas; two daughters in law: Liz Adams of Logandale; Diana Adams of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and one brother, Edward (Robbie) of TX. He was preceded in death by two sons, Wesley and Terryl and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Meadows 4th Ward Chapel, 3200 Mustang (Cheyenne & Torrey Pines), Las Vegas, NV. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Bunker’s Memory Gardens Cemetery.
