Dona Bledsoe

Donallorene "Dona" Murphy Bledsoe, age 79, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in Overton, Nevada. She was born on November 26, 1936 in Boulder, Colorado to Donald Belshazzar & Lorene Mills Murphy. On December 27, 1953 she married James Montgomery Bledsoe, Sr. in Pueblo, Colorado. In 1959 they were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple.

Dona grew up in Colorado. She and James were pen pals while he served in the Korean conflict. After their marriage they settled into Las Vegas where they raised their family. In 1979 they retired to Overton.

She loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, cooking and gardening, especially flowers. She loved music. She was well known for her talent with the autoharp. She loved Bluegrass Festivals, performing with her husband and making new friends.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and had a strong testimony. She served in the Relief Society Presidency and a temple ordinance worker along with her husband.

Dona is survived by her husband, James; one son and three daughters; Sandra of Reno, NV, Heather (John) Bertoldo of Las Vegas, Monte (Laura) and Arta (Arthur) Mortensen both of Overton; and one brother, Donald (Paula) Murphy of Alturus, CA; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild due in May. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Logandale Hinckley Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Moapa Valley Mortuary and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Pioneer Hill Cemetery.
