Diane Mowad of Mesquite Nevada passed away Saturday June 25, 2022, at the BeeHive Homes. She was born October 1, 1952, in New York to Charles and Muriel Muller Dunkerley. She married Steven Mowad on June 8, 1974, at Silver Lake Park in Baldwin, New York.
Diane was raised in Levittown, New York, attended Nassau Community College, SUNY at Stony Brook, Adelphi University and C.W. Post College for her Masters’ Degree in Chemistry. She spent some time in New Jersey but, lived most of the time on Long Island New York. Diane was always a doer and loved climbing trees, mountains, and anything climbable. Vacations to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Montreal, Canada, Las Vegas Nevada, the Hawaiian Islands, London, England and cruises to Alaska, Bermuda as well as the Bay of Fundy, Canada. Diane loved sports and played softball, golf, tennis, and skiing. She loved painting, singing, and playing guitar. When she retired and came to Mesquite her love of creating things was expanded. She joined the Pottery Club and became President. She sang with the Sun City Sounds and acted with the Virgin Valley Theater Group. Her green thumb worked on the grapevines in her backyard. She photographed all the birds that came to eat the “5” varieties of grapes. She did work on her family tree and found out she could trace back to the Revolutionary War. She then became a Daughters’ of the American Revolution member and was close to finding a relative from the Mayflower.
She is survived by her husband Steve who lives in Mesquite, her sister Doris Koch (Christopher) from Roswell, Georgia, her brother Don Dunkerley (Candy) from Tucson, Arizona, her sister Darilyn Dunkerley from Frederick, Maryland, her stepmother Lois Dunkerley from Nakina, North Carolina, and her half-sister Debbie Dunkerley from Wantagh, New York.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to services at the United Methodist Church, 420 E Pioneer Blvd in Mesquite. She will be cremated under the direction of the Virgin Valley Mortuary (702-346-6060) and her ashes will be given to her husband Steve and her sister Doris.
