Dennie "Tony" Nichols

December 4, 1941 — February 28, 2009

Dennie George Nichols, Sr., age 67, died Saturday, February 28, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born December 4, 1941 in Kingsport, Tennessee to George William and Mary Julina Martin Nichols. On May 15, 1961 he married Sharree Lorraine Bishop in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dennie grew up in Kingsport. He served in the US Air Force at Nellis Air Force Base during the Vietnam Conflict, and later served in the Phillipines. In 1970, he moved his small family to Alamo, Nevada where he farmed and mined and enjoyed the rural life. In 1975, they moved to Overton, Nevada where he began a long career at the Lost City Museum. He took great pride in his work as a display technician. He was a master carver, artist and craftsman. He was very creative and loved working at the museum.

Survivors include his wife, Sharree of Overton; daughter, Antoinette (Brad) Olsen of St. George, UT; Dennie Jr. (Lisa) of Casper, WY; daughter, Vanessa Larkins of Kingsport, TN; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters: Janette Moody; Iona (Bill) Mahan; Douglas (Shirley) all of Kingsport, TN; Gordon of Myrtle Beach, FL; Jan (Sue); Karen (David) Castle all of Kingsport, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Lake Mead Baptist Church, 725 N. Moapa Valley Blvd., Logandale, Nevada. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Pioneer Hill Memorial Cemetery.
