Deborah Ann Tom, 71, passed away on March 17, 2024 in Reno, Nevada. Deborah was born on July 30, 1952 on Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada to James Love and Violet Rose Mike. She moved to Utah as a youth to live with member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a youth, she served a church service mission where she met many wonderful people. She had a strong faith in Heavenly Father, and was always busy doing service for others.

Deborah loved children, and worked for the Washoe County School District for over twenty-five years. She was a hard worker, and got seconds jobs as airport security in Reno, Nevada and worked as a CNA for the elderly for a time. She also volunteered with Urban Indians, teaching young children different crafts and games. She loved line dancing and going to Rodeos, and watching any sport on TV. In her youth, she loved playing softball and performed flag and baton twirling for her school. She loved traveling, often attending church revivals. She loved her children and grandchildren, and would always have a good meal prepared for them and would take them shopping with every visit.

Deborah is survived by her companion, James Scott; her children, Tanisha Tom, Shalin Tom, and Darilyn (Alex) Martinez; her grandchildren, Dakotah (Raymond) Tom Lomeli, Cannon Rios, Sierra Reel, Colt Rios, Ivan Reel, Mason Martinez, Connor Martinez, Lincoln Martinez, Jared Martinez, Jensen Martinez, and Mariah Martinez; her great-grandchildren, Adrian Lomeli, Cooper Sanchez, and Noah Lomeli; her siblings, Jennifer Samson and Ronald John; and her large extended family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her children, John Rios, Jason Tom, and Delbert John; her granddaughter, Alexa Martinez; her siblings, Joseph John, Regina Benn, and Monte Samson; her parents, James and Violet Love; and her grandmother, Mabel Mike Fisher.

A viewing will be held on Saturday March 23, 2024, 1-2:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Moapa Chapel, 1420 Barlow, Moapa, Nevada. A Traditional Sing will be held at sundown at the Moapa Tribal Building, 1 Lincoln Ave, Moapa, Nevada. Interment will take place at sunrise at the Moapa Tribal Cemetery.
