David Allen Vandersloot

December 11, 1952 — October 16, 2018

Mesquite

David Allen Vandersloot, 65, passed away October 16, 2018 in Mesquite, NV.  Dave was born on December 11, 1952 to Edward J. Vandersloot and Eldean K. (Moos) Vandersloot. He grew up in Hardin amidst a large and fun loving immediate and extended family. He moved to Joliet in 1968 with his parents and two brothers. Dave graduated from Joliet High School in 1971 where he was a standout basketball player.

In 1972, Dave married Kris Reed. To this union they had two children, Leslie and Eric. They started their family in Roberts, while Dave worked at the Laurel Co-op. They moved to Bridger in 1980 when he started his employment with Montana Power at Dry Creek. Dave enjoyed sports, coaching gritty Little League baseball teams, playing softball with friends, and supporting his kids’ teams. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than hunting and exploring the fields and mountains of south-central Montana. He shared these experiences with his children. Dave and his family moved to Livingston in 1993 for a job transfer. He and Kris divorced in 1995.

Dave married Elaine (Pierce) Asbury on July 18, 1998 in Red Lodge, and they lived in the house he built outside Livingston. Dave and Elaine shared a love for Steelers football and traveling to golf communities. He retired from Northwestern Energy in 2015. A year later, they moved to Mesquite, Nevada to get away from the snowy, cold weather and to play golf.

He is survived by his wife Elaine, daughter Leslie (Luke), son Eric (Jenny), his grandchildren (Kate, Mina, Halle, Ewan, Cooper, and Greta), sister Julie (Greg), and his brothers Rick (Joyce) and Pat (Claudia).  He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their Guest Book.
