David Carl Shurtliff, age 90, died Sunday, October 13, 2013 in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born April 13, 1923 in Kaolin, Nevada to Carl Lumen Ellen Lydia Roseberry Shurtliff. On September 29, 1970 he married Mary Adeline King in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2010. David spent most of his life in Overton, Nevada. He served in the US Army during WWII in Germany and Czechoslovakia. He worked for the Nevada Fish and Game at the Overton Wildlife Refuge. He took great pride in raising and selling pomegranites and his garden. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Survivors include his brother, Larry (Leona) Shurtliff of Enterprise, Utah; brother in law, Bob Behmer and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Norma Perkins and Rosemary Behmer. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Pioneer Hill Cemetery in Overton. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the Moapa Valley Mortuary.
