David William Rau

David William Rau, age 78, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born June 28, 1937 to William Frederick and Lucille Pauline Smith Rau in Fresno, California. On June 20, 1959 he married Shiela Joan Hickman in Las Vegas, Nevada.
David was raised in Fresno. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict then moved to Amargosa Valley, Nevada. He had a love for the land and working hard. He enjoyed farming, drilling water wells and construction. He tinkered with model trains and loved time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Shiela; two daughters: Kelly Weber of Moapa, NV; Shelly Rau of Amargosa Valley, NV; four grandhchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Valerie) of Dayton, NV; two sisters, Billie (Bruce) Greenhalgh of Carson City, NV and Bridget (Mike) Shurtz of Rohnert Park, CA. He was preceded in death by three grandsons and one sister.
The family will hold memorial services in Amargosa Valley.
