Constance Jean Deakin

December 22, 1942 — January 19, 2020

Moapa

Constance (Connie) Jean Deakin, 77, passed away in her home in Moapa, NV on January 19, 2020. Connie was born in Freemont, OH on December 22, 1942 to Clifford and Eloise Chaney Shawl. She married Thomas (Ted) Edward Deakin in Henderson, NV on June 7, 1959.

Connie worked at the Overton, NV Library for over twenty years. It was a perfect job for her, since she loved to read. She would often recommend books to her family and friends, and anyone that came to the library. She loved decorating and making crafts, and strived to help children enjoy the many events at the library. She wrote poetry, and published her own book of poems. She loved the outdoors and visited Zion National Park often. She was strong-willed and determined, and enjoyed learning. Connie loved her children, and her grand- and great-grandchildren even more, with her pets coming in a close second. She enjoyed her many years married to Ted. They worked together to be the first Fire Chief and Ambulance Coordinator in Moapa Valley. When they weren’t working, they enjoyed their marriage by going out dancing and reading together.

Connie is survived by her husband, Ted Deakin; her children, Stuart (Joann) Deakin of Arizona, Steven (Susan) Deakin of Las Vegas, NV, Stephanie (Gilbert) Valerio of Logandale, NV, and Scott (Teddy) Deakin of Albuquerque, NM; her nine grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; and her two brothers, Steve and Jeff. She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Kermit and Dennis.

There will be an Open House to visit the family at the Deakin Residence on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their Guest Book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.
