Connie Jeanne (Murphy) Skelton

June 5, 1948 — May 11, 2024

Connie Jeanne Murphy Skelton, age 75, died Saturday, May 11, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born June 5, 1948 to Felix Grundy Murphy and Vivian Patsy Walker in Moab, Utah. Her childhood was spent in the red rocks of Moab with her siblings. She married her eternal sweetheart, Larry Ray Skelton on December 29, 1971 in the St. George, Utah temple.

Connie graduated from Utah State University with a degree in education. Upon graduating, she moved to Tooele, Utah where she secured a job teaching at East Elementary School. She loved teaching and spending her day with children. She met Larry at the church when she was called to be the girls’ volleyball coach. She had just received the ball when Larry took it from her and held it ransom in return for a ride home.

Connie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She joined the church as a teenager. She felt extremely blessed to be a member of the church and contributed her happy life to her decision to join the church. Some of her favorite callings include: working with people with special needs, primary chorister, scout leader, and visiting teacher. Connie and Larry raised their family in Tooele, Utah before relocating to St. George in 2004. She was a devoted wife and mother. She found great joy in spending time with and serving her family. She wanted everybody to feel loved and made sure she told them often. The church and family were her constants.

Most of her hobbies revolved around creating things that could be given as gifts, such as: finding and polishing rocks, painting, baking cakes, and making porcelain dolls. She would master a skill and move on to the next hobby.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Ray Skelton; children: Larry A. (Tiffany) Skelton of West Jordan, UT; Becky (Kevin) Sullivan of Las Vegas, NV; Tyson (Bethany) Skelton of Flagstaff, AZ; Corey (Nancy Mays) Skelton of Falls Church, VA, Marcy (Don) Gubler of Henderson, NV; siblings: Sandi Roedel of Moab, UT; Tanya Murphy of Pueblo, CO; Tera Lyn Allred (Bill Wilson) of Moab, UT and Kenny (MaryAnn) Allred of West Valley City, UT. She has 23 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
