Clifford Lewis Jenkins

April 5, 1939 — December 17, 2013

Clifford Jenkins, age 74, passed away on December 17th, 2013 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born in South Bend, Indiana on April 5th, 1939 to Teresa and Alvin Jenkins. Cliff graduated from Zion Benton Township High School in 1957.

Cliff entered the Marine Corps in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He was very proud to be a Marine and his life in the Corp stayed with him all of his life. During his tour of duty he spent four years overseas. Cliff married Susan on May 17, 1986 at the Colorado Women's College Chapel in Denver, Colorado. He was very close to Susan's parents and he even asked if they would like to join them on their honeymoon. Cliff was honored to help Susan's parents whenever needed, because as we all know, he was known as "Mr. Handy Dan." During their 27-year marriage, Cliff and Susan did a fair amount of traveling and whenever possible, his in-laws joined them. He loved spending time with his children and grand-children, and did so as often as he could. Cliff was a wonderful son-in-law, father and grandfather, and the children all loved him very much.

Cliff was active in the Mesquite Elks Lodge 2811, American Legion Post 24, the OFG and his bowling league, of which he was the secretary/treasurer. Most recently, he played a very active role as the president of the Veteran's Center. Cliff was very active in his church, the Mesquite United Methodist Church. He was president of the Methodist Men's Group, on the finance committee as well as the Staff Parrish and Treasurer of the Church. He and Susan enjoyed volunteering at the church. Cliff was a very giving man, and always willing to help when someone needed something done.

Cliff is preceded in death by his parents, Teresa and Alvin Jenkins, his sister, Arlene Bricco and his brother, Ted Jenkins.

Cliff is survived by his wife Susan, who still resides in their home in Mesquite, daughter Cheryl Jenkins of Kenosha, WI, son Fred Jenkins of Aurora, CO, step-daughter Cindy Alexander of Phoenix, AZ, step-daughter Cathleen Ebert (Kerry) of Bassett, NE and step-son Thomas Sauer of Westminster, CO. Cliff had 6 grandchildren, Jasmine, Jessica, Jason, Heather, Justin and Ryan.

There will be a Memorial Service at the Mesquite United Methodist Church at 420 N. Pioneer Blvd, Mesquite, NV on Saturday, December 21st at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mesquite United Methodist Church or the Mesquite Veteran's Center.
