July 30, 1927 — July 11, 2019

Mesquite

Clareen Reber Leavitt, 91, passed away in Mesquite, Nevada on July 11, 2019. She was born on July 30, 1927 in St. George, Utah to Clarence Melbourne Reber and Iona Belle Barnum. She married Clawson Leavitt on October 19,1948 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were later sealed in the St. George Utah Temple. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1998.

Clareen was raised in Mesquite, Nevada. She attended elementary school in Mesquite, then high school in Bunkerville, Nevada where she graduated as Valedictorian. She loved music and played any instrument in the band that was available to her. Except for a short time that they lived in Henderson, Nevada, she and Clawson lived in Mesquite throughout their life. As a young woman she worked at Vonda’s Cafe for many years and later in life she worked at the Virgin Valley Federal Credit Union for almost 20 years. For over a decade she served as the manager and helped the institution progress through many changes. She loved working with the people in Virgin Valley and appreciated the many friendships that were formed throughout the years. She retired in May 1990.

Clareen was known for her willingness to serve others and for how welcoming she was to anyone who would visit her. She served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. Clareen loved to sing and had a beautiful soprano voice. She sang in choirs, trios, duets and any other time she was asked. Among many other callings, she led the music in church throughout the years in Sunday School, Jr. Sunday School, Sacrament Meeting and Relief Society. She was leading music in Relief Society up until the day she became homebound.

Clareen was always a great fan of her children and grandchildren and supported them in every way that she possibly could, attending many activities, events and special occasions in which they participated. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved traveling with her children. She was always game for a trip - whether it be on a cruise, the Dumont Sand Dunes, Disneyland, Cedar Mountain, Lake Mead, Hawaii or wherever her family was going.

Clareen is survived by her children; Susan (Don) Edwards of Duck Creek, Utah; Jannene (James) Weger of Las Vegas, Nevada; Alan (Patti) Leavitt of Pahrump, Nevada; Dolores (Craig) Pulsipher of Mesquite, Nevada; Todd (Keri) Leavitt of Mesquite, Nevada; Troy (Jennifer) Leavitt of Hurricane, Utah; 23 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters; Sharon (Stephen) Weaver of Las Vegas, Nevada and Rebecca (Tony) Castagno of Heber City, Utah and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clawson Leavitt; her parents, Clarence and Iona Reber; her sister, Verna (Boyd) Moss; one grandson, Jerad Leavitt (Todd and Keri) and one son-in-law, Craig Pulsipher.
